macOS requires this permission so TextLoupe can read the text you’ve selected and replace it with the improved version. That’s all it uses it for.
The shortcut is registered with the system rather than tapped from the keyboard stream, so TextLoupe never sees what you type. It reads a selection only when you press the shortcut.

No. Your selected text is sent to our server to process the request, but we don’t store it or write it to logs. What we keep per request is the action name, the model, and a token count — enough to count usage, and nothing more.
OpenAI's API terms say inputs sent through the API are not used to train their models.
